The water apple is also called rose apple or bell fruit. The fruit is a bell shaped edible berry, with colors ranging from white, pale green, or green to red, purple or crimson, or deep purple. It is a pretty fruit to look at.
We are ever grateful to this caring family who thoughtfully send us some home grown fruits and vegetables our way whenever possible. That is how these water apples found a place in our larder that day.
It’s quite crunchy and has a lot of water content so it’s good to be eaten without much tampering with it. But I wanted to do something extra to make it stand out. I thought of making a preserve.
This preserve is good to be eaten with vanilla ice cream as a fitting finish to a heavy meal. The best part of this preserve is that it can be prepared ahead of time and stored, to be served for lunch or dinner the next day!!
